OUR SPECIALTY CONTACT LENseS SERVICES
The Optica Lopez offers a variety of contact lens services and design specialty contact lenses.
What are specialty contact lenses, and how do you know if you need them? Specialty or custom contact lenses can help persons with very high or unusual prescriptions, previous eye surgeries, ocular disorders, and/or conditions that prevent them from wearing soft contact lenses.
Fitting contact lenses to correct or treat any of the aforementioned issues takes substantially longer than a routine contact lens fitting. Before the final contact lens prescription can be determined, these “hard-to-fit” instances frequently necessitate a series of office visits and numerous pairs of trial lenses. In addition, lenses for these situations are frequently more expensive than ordinary soft contact lenses. As a result, these fittings are more expensive than regular contact lens fittings. SPECIALTY CONTACT LENSES
Specialty Contact Lenses for Astigmatism
If you have astigmatism – a common condition where the eye isn’t perfectly round, but more football- or egg-shaped – then you’ll need a special design of contact lenses called “toric” lenses for clear vision.
Toric contact lenses are available in two types of materials: soft and rigid gas permeable (RGP or GP). Soft toric lenses are preferred by the majority of contact lens wearers who require toric lenses.

Bifocal/Multifocal Contact Lenses
When you reach your 40s and become presbyopic, bifocal and multifocal contact lenses are designed to help you see clearly. When you reach your forties, you begin to lose your ability to focus up close. Beginning at this age, you may need to hold reading material farther away from your eyes to see it clearly, such as a menu or newspaper.
Multifocal and bifocal contact lenses come in a variety of powers that let you to see at different distances. Bifocal or progressive eyeglasses are examples of this.
Both soft and rigid gas permeable (GP) materials are available for bifocal and multifocal contact lenses.
To correct presbyopia, there are a variety of bifocal and multifocal contact lens designs available today. We can help you determine whether bifocal/multifocal contact lenses or monovision contact lenses are ideal for you during your contact lens fitting.

Scleral Lenses
Scleral lenses are large-diameter lenses that vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the “white” of the eye (the sclera).
Scleral lenses are mostly used to cure corneas that are unhealthy or have been surgically changed. Dry Eye Syndrome, Keratoconus and corneal ectasias, Graft vs Host Disease- GVHD, Stevens Johnson Syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, Post-LASIK, and Post-Corneal Transplant are some of the disorders treated with scleral lenses.
